Brassica Rapa, Broccoli Raab (Cima di Rapa)

Traditional Italian vegetable, a primitive type of broccoli prepared in the kitchen by blanching and serving warm or cold with olive oil as anti pasta dish, or sauteing with garlic.

Mid season type.

Sow in situ, in full sun, from early spring to late summer. The first sowing can be made under cloches in late winter and will be ready for use in early summer. 

Can tolerate partial shade.

Older heads can become bitter, especially in hot weather.

Prefers well-drained, fertile soil high in organic matter. Can tolerate slightly alkaline soil. Needs plentiful, consistent moisture.
